We at Pet Parents Place love to help rescue groups and share free ways for them to find homes for their rescue animals. This is a method that I created and shared in our local newspaper.
If you have suggestions for helping rescue groups get their word out, please send them to us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Newspapers can publicize your rescue group’s animals that are available for adoption for free. Let me tell you how.
We all know rescue groups need all the help. One of the areas is to find inexpensive or preferably free ways to help their rescues find new homes. And so, here’s my suggestion. And it worked for me. Simple and easy and free – what more can you ask for?
My story is about our local Animal Control and pet rescue groups were at odds. The disagreement was how Animal Control was taking care of the rescues. This issue ended up in our local newspaper. Because of that, I wrote a ‘Letter to the Editor’ suggesting the newspaper and Animal Control could work together to help all the rescues find homes. And it worked! The newspaper and Animal Control teemed up. Animal Control submitted photos and great little descriptions of the pet, it’s history and personality and the newspaper published it once a week. Below is an example from the newspaper, ‘The Annapolis Capital Gazette’ . The Gazette puts them in their paper once a week.
REACH OUT TO ALL OF YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES
I suggest you reach out to your local newspapers and magazines. Remind them of all the animal lovers in your area. And be sure to make them aware of what good public relations it would be for the paper. It’s a win/win/win! Assure the newspaper that you will have the pictures and inviting write ups to them on and time the when need them. And keep that commitment!
